Take an over day trip from your cruise, Alexandria Port to Cairo in order to discover the history of the first pyramids of Egypt at Saqarra (Sakkara), Memphis, and Dahshur around 40 kilometers south of Cairo. Destinations include the royal necropolis of Dahshur in the desert on the west bank of the Nile. Our English Egyptologist guide will take you to the Red Pyramid (also the North Pyramid); the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after Khufu and Khafra Pyramids at Giza. The Red Pyramid was the third pyramid built by Sneferu. You will see the Bent Pyramid, the second pyramid built by the Pharaoh Sneferu.

Visit Memphis and off to Saqqare (Sakkara); the necropolis for the ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis where you will visit the world most famous Step Pyramid of Djoser that is considered to be the first pyramid built in Egypt around 2648 BC.  Tomb of Mereruka (also mastaba of Mereruka) is another sight to be seen which is the largest of the Old Kingdom tombs at Saqqara during the reign of Teti in Dynasty VI.

Itinerary

Tour Egypt Travel® representative will pick you up from Alexandria Port by the cruise exit door, holding a sign with your name. Enjoy a private shore excursion and day trip from Alexandria to Cairo for approximately 3 hours by an air-conditioned vehicle with one stop in the middle of the way, in case you need a rest. First visit will be paid to Dahshur southwest of Memphis at some 10 kilometers to the South of Sakkara where you can see the Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid. Then transfer to Sakkara to visit the Step Pyramid and Tomb of Mereruka. Lunch will be provided at air-condition Egyptian restaurant. After Lunch you will visit the Memphis the first capital of Egypt before beginning your return trip to Alexandria. You have the opportunity to shop for Cairo souvenirs at the Papyrus Institute.
